Basic (16 - 18) ~ Trainee
Ewan entered the Federation as an enlisted trainee where he undertook the basic training needed to become an enlisted Marine with Starfleet. Unlike officers, the basic training last only two years and most of that took place on the Luna Training facility in the Sol System. Ewan learnt how to be a Marine in basic, everything from firing a rifle to drill to small unit tactics. He also learned the basic skills such as field medicine, Field engineering and explosives.

Third Rifle Regiment (18 - 20) ~ PFC - Lance Corporal
Ewan Grimes is assigned to the Third Rifle Regiment’s Ninth platoon as a riflemen, the Regiment is assigned to Andoria as part of the planetary garrison. While on Andoria Grimes completes his cold weather training and his advanced Zero Gee combat training passing with high marks. The Ninth Platoon is dispatched for a five-month tour on the USS Horus, while on the Horus answers a distress call from a Federation Colony. Responding to the distress call the Platoon find that the colony is under attack from a Cardassian Battalion, Ninth Platoon respond with full force while the Horus effects an evac of the colony. This is the first taste of combat and the only he will see for the rest of the tour.

USS Hood Detachment (20 ) ~ Lance Corporal - Corporal
Upon joining, the fourth Company of the sixth Rifles Regiment Grimes is given command of a fire team in Green Squad. The USS Hood was assigned to the border with the Cardassian’s. In the year that Grimes was on the hood he saw combat (space and ground) dozens of times. He earned a promotion to Corporal just three months later. He was injured in a battle with the Cardassians as spent a week in the sickbay. When the USS Hood returned to Starbase 44 in late 2364 Grimes transferred to SB44.

Starbase 44 Detachment (20 - 24) ~ Corporal - Sergeant
Grimes is promoted to Sergeant, he is also given command of the seventy-seventh Squad, 10th Rifles Regiment assigned to the station. Starbase 44 was on the frontlines of the Cardassian War, Grimes’s unit was sent off station 4 times with each time being a major battle, either to reclaim a planet or take a planet through force. Grime transferred off the station when the Federation-Cardassian War armistice was signed. He decided that he needed a challenge and so requested to join the Starfleet/Klingon exchange program.

Klingon Defence Force exchange Program (24 - 28) ~ Sergeant - Staff Sergeant
4 years with the Klingon meant that Grimes saw a good deal of combat, both on the field of battle and with the Klingon his served with. 2 years in he was promoted to Staff Sergeant upon the recommendation of his Klingon Commander. In later 2371 when it became clear that the Klingon’s and the Federation were on the road to war Grimes was smuggled out but his Squad. He was saved from a sure death at the hands of other Klingon’s due to his ‘honour’. He later found out that his entire squad had been killed for refusing to board a Federation Science ship.

Elite Forces Selection (28-29) ~ Staff Sergeant - Trooper
* Klingon/Federation War Starts (Late 2372)
Upon returning to Federation Space Grimes signed up for the Elite Forces selection course. He wanted to serve the Federation and do good and he felt that if he remained in the Marines he would ultimately be assigned to a desk or be promoted to officer rank, he wanted neither. Elite forces offered him the chance to continue on as an NCO but keep him in the field. He passed selection, was ‘promoted’ to Trooper, and was assigned to Gamma Team as a junior member.

Elite Forces Tour 1 – Gamma Team, Operations Command (29 - 31) ~ Trooper

* Dominion War Starts (Late 2373)
In the first year of his tour Grimes was assigned to Gamma team as a junior member. He spent most of those two years behind Klingon line assassinating key military leaders and blowing military installations up. His team helped get Captain Sisko and his team into the Klingon Empire undetected, they also coursed distractions elsewhere in the system to draw ships away to help keep the BoP they arrived on hidden. When he returned to ‘home base’ he completed the training course for orbital drop inversion, qualified as a sniper, and took advanced medics training. (putting him about equal to an Intern but with paramedics experience).

Grimes was moved to Delta Team for his second tour, he was assigned to 2nd Fleet field operations.======His missions in this in this tour are still classified beyond Level 10======

Elite Forces Tour 3 Delta Team, Operations Command (33 - 35) ~ Trooper - Gunnery Sergeant
* Dominion War Ends (Early 2376)
At the start of his third tour Grimes was promoted back to Staff Sergeant and then Gunnery Sergeant, he was then given the second spot in Delta team. His first mission was one of the last of the Dominion War. His team was assigned to give sniper support to a ground assault; the battle was won and won quickly thanks to Delta team and the Marines on the ground. The next two years were spent hunting down rouge Dominion forces and traitor Starfleet Officers. The last 2 months were spent at the ‘home base’ learning to fly a shuttlecraft and passing his pilots exams.

Elite Forces Tour 4 Beta Team, Operations Command (35 - 37) ~ Gunnery Sergeant - Master Sergeant
Grimes was once again promoted and given command of Beta team and assigned to the for a deep space recon mission to the Delta Quadrant to assess the strength of the BORG collected following Voyagers return. Their mission was to gather Intelligence that involved under cover missions, it was vital that no one knew that Starfleet was in the Delta Quadrant again, not until Starfleet was ready and the Federation got their diplomats ready. Their mission was classified as successful in that they completed it and returned home, however they discovered that the BORG were rebuilding and ready to launch a strike which gave a distinct down turn to their mission.

Elite Forces Tour 5 Beta Team, Operations Command (37 - 39) ~ Master Sergeant
In command of Beta team for a second Tour Grimes and his team, return to the Delta Quadrant on a refitted Intrepid class starship. They were to infiltrate the Borg and learn what they can about their attack plans. Once they had gathered data they were to engage in guerrilla warfare and do as much damage as possible while waiting for the arrival of an attack force code named Epsilon Force to arrive. The team raked up a kill rate of more than a 100 Drones killed in signal combat and 3 Borg ships through sabotage and 2 in ship to ship combat.

Elite Forces Tour 6 Alpha Team, 9th Fleet Command (39 - 41) ~ Master Sergeant
Grimes was give command of Alpha team of the ninth fleet field command and assigned to Starbase beta 7, a planetary outpost on the edge of section 005 and 12 light years from a known hot spot of criminal activity. Alpha teams missions were to carry out operations from Intelligence gathered on the major ‘players’ of organized crime in the ‘hot spot’.

Elite Forces Tour 7 Alpha Team, 7th Fleet Command (41 - 43) ~ Sergeant Major
Another promotion and a new mission, their missions were to strike at the heart of Section 31 and disrupt their activities’. 7 teams from commands around the Federation took part in assassinations and captures that resulted in the loss of two entire teams and 5 other operatives but came out with 33 Section 31 operatives killed, 88 captured and interrogated and vital intelligence into the inner workings of Section 31. Despite the successes of the teams and the operation at large 9 more operatives were killed in assassinations , it is clear that Section 31 is working their way through the Teams that took part in the operation no one is safe.
